Luxury Vinyl Plank LVP Installation

Are you looking for the best Luxury Vinyl Plank installer in Virginia Beach? Your search is over with the professionals at Artistic Flooring. We are proud to say that we have been locally owned for over 30 years. We are delighted to have your business!

What is LVP/LVT?

A common acronym for Luxury Vinyl Plank is LVP. You will often see LVP in businesses throughout Hampton Roads, showrooms, and, most importantly, homes. LVP waterproof floors is an excellent alternative for wood flooring without the maintenance and the higher price tag, yet maintaining the luxurious look of natural wood floors.

Two Options for LVP Installation

You have two options for LVP Installation: glue-down or tongue and groove. A tongue and groove system is excellent for DIY installations, is quickly taken up, and can be floated. Glue Down LVP typically has a thinner profile and is more flexible and is often seen in commercial settings like hospitals and grocery stores. Furthermore, both styles have a variety of available trim profiles that can be installed for existing stair treads.

Certain situations may have you depending on a tongue and groove rather than a glue down. Please consult your flooring installer for the best option for your home since every home is unique and needs to be reviewed.

LVP As A Floor Covering And Its Value

Homeowners and Business owners often choose LVP as a floor covering simply because it is easy to maintain. (and affordable!) Many big box home improvement stores carry their line of LVP. Smaller businesses are often dealers for major brands such as Mohawk, Engineered Floors, COREtecMSI, Mannington, TruCore, and many more. Often, when you buy from a locally owned dealer, you are not only helping a local business, but you are more likely to have a higher quality. Our employees are expertly trained in installing all LVP/LVT brands and sizes. You can get more Vinyl Plank ideas.

For lasting performance, we suggest a wear layer of at least 12mil. While crucial, the wear layer isn’t the sole factor for durability. Ideally, opt for a total thickness of no less than 5mm. Thinner floors tend to deteriorate more quickly over time.

Infinite Color Selection:

Achieve the desired ‘wood look’ with our Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) options. LVP has a wide variety of styles that mimic the look of hardwood. This is done by digitizing a photo of real hardwood and printing it onto each plank. Furthermore, this can create a pattern repeat, and some manufacturers create individual patterns up to 55 square feet! In addition, LVP can come in planks up to 94″ long and as wide as 9″; with the improvement of technology, we even offer hand-scraped LVP in our showroom! Did you find something you love online? Pros of LVP:

Do you lead a busy life at home? Consider LVP for high-traffic areas prone to spills. Here’s why:

  • Easy Cleanup
  • Mess-Free Installation
  • Quick installation, with turnaround time based on your home’s size
  • Some LVP products support the use of steam mops, with the added benefit of Microban™ for allergy-prone households.

  • Address un-level subfloors with self-leveling material, a common requirement.
  • Are you installing over glue-down engineered hardwood on concrete? We advise removal before installation, and we have the necessary machinery.
  • Acclimation may be needed for certain LVPs, depending on the manufacturer’s guidelines. We’ll guide you through this process before installation.
  • Conducting a moisture reading before installation is standard. Keep in mind that it provides a snapshot of the subfloor’s current condition.
  • Depending on the room’s dimensions, a T-Molding may be necessary to accommodate flooring expansion.
  • Prepared for all scenarios, we’re equipped to handle various challenges.
  • Floating LVP floors aren’t ideal for spaces with frequent ‘rolling loads.’ We recommend a glue-down format for such areas, especially for high-traffic or commercial spaces expecting wheelchair usage.
  • Cupping issues with your LVP may indicate moisture damage, requiring further investigation. We offer repair services; contact us to schedule an appointment.

We are proud to be installing floors throughout the Hampton Roads area, such as Norfolk, Kempsville, Chesapeake, Suffolk, and Portsmouth! For more frequently asked questions about our other services…
